Many existing heating installations still rely on traditional heating methods such as fuel oil, gas, and other fossil fuels. The demand to reduce the use of fossil fuels for heating applications is growing rapidly. As a result, it is becoming increasingly attractive for companies to switch to electric heating. At Heating Group International, we are happy to explain how this can be achieved in an existing heating installation.
When fossil fuels are used for heating, fuel oil is often the primary energy source. Fuel oil is a liquid fossil fuel used to heat water in a boiler system. This heated water is then distributed through piping to radiators, convectors, or other heating elements.
Although fuel oil has been a reliable heating solution for many years, it also comes with several disadvantages today. These include high fuel costs, maintenance expenses, emissions, and environmental concerns. Sustainability is becoming increasingly important for many organizations, making electrification and the reduction of fossil fuel use a logical next step.
The transition to electric heating has become much more attractive for many organizations. This is partly due to lower maintenance costs, improved sustainability performance, and the ability to deliver higher heating capacities.
When converting an existing installation to electric heating, most of the current heating system can remain unchanged. In many cases, only the heat source needs to be replaced with an electric heating solution. At Heating Group International, every system is individually calculated and manufactured based on the application, required heating capacity, and operating conditions.
In many existing installations, heat is distributed through radiators heated by hot water. When switching to electric heating, an circulation heater can often be used, depending on the application. Circulation heaters are frequently applied in process heating systems.
The heater warms the water as it flows through the unit. The heated water is then circulated to the existing radiators.
All circulation heaters are remotely controlled. A custom-designed control system is supplied with each heater and can be configured and operated on-site by the user. Every circulation heater receives its own tailored control solution.
An circulation heater heats water or another medium directly as it enters the heater housing. This type of heating does not require fossil fuels and can easily be integrated into an existing heating installation.
Circulation heaters are commonly used in industrial process applications or systems with a continuous heating demand. Every unit is custom designed and manufactured, with standard power ratings available up to 5 MW.
This form of heating must always be controlled remotely. These control systems are also custom-built and specifically matched to the heater. They allow users to increase or decrease the temperature and switch the heater on or off.
Heating with fossil fuels such as fuel oil is increasingly being discouraged. Maintenance costs continue to rise, as do fuel prices. Many organizations are preparing for a future in which fossil fuels are no longer required for heating by investing in electric heating solutions.
We regularly encounter existing heating installations that are ready to transition to electric heating. The modifications required are often minimal, depending on the installation and application.
Do you have an existing heating installation and would you like to switch to electric heating? Feel free to contact us. We will be happy to help you find a customized heating solution perfectly suited to your installation.
