Band heating elements have multiple industrial applications, but mostly are used in the mechanical engineering for the heating of short pieces pipework and in the synthetic and rubber processing industry. Examples are extrusions and spraying machines. The band heating elements are also usable as drum heaters.
Band heating elements can be divided based on the isolation material, like mica or ceramics. The choice for one of these materials is depending of the necessary power and working temperature. An element can exist of multiple segments which are connected to one another because of clamps or hinges.
Band heating elements are circular heating elements. These are build with a resistance wire with electrical insulation by mica or ceramic isolation. They are mostly covered by a metal sheath. These sheath’s can be of zinc or aluminized metal sheething or stainless steel.Elements with a diameter above the 500mm always needs to exist with two or more segments. For these electrical connection are many different options. For example to place thermocouple and include the sticking out parts, this can prevent the elements from holes or cutouts.
Nose elements are just like mica elements build with a resistance wire with electrical insulation by mica isolation. The sheath does not exist of two lose plates but of a flat rolled brass. Because of this rolling a real smooth area and a good compaction of the element is created which makes sure of a great heat conduction.
